Our furniture is finished with a natural, non-toxic oil. 
Please avoid using harsh cleaners. 
Instead, use one of the following methods:
Use warm soapy water, carefully wipe completely dry.

At Sound Designs, we take pride in crafting sustainable, high-quality live edge furniture designed to last. We offer a limited warranty on all our products to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind.

What's Covered:

Structural Integrity: We warrant our products to be free from structural defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase.
    Finishes: We warrant our finishes to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase.

What's Not Covered:

Normal wear and tear
    Damage caused by misuse, abuse, or neglect
    Damage from exposure to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or excessive moisture
    Damage caused by improper assembly or disassembly
    Natural characteristics of wood, such as variations in color, grain, or texture
    Normal minor wood movement
    Commercial or non-residential use, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing

How to Make a Warranty Claim:

Contact us within the warranty period at joe@sounddesignsny.com or (516) 946.6726.
    Provide your order number, a description of the issue, and photos documenting the defect.
    Our team will review your claim and, if approved, we'll repair or replace the defective product at our discretion.

After the Warranty Period:

After the 3-year warranty period, Sound Designs will evaluate requests for repairs or replacements on a case-by-case basis. While the warranty coverage expires, we remain committed to supporting our customers and will do our best to assist with any issues that may arise.

Additional Information:

The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
    Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.
    This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

Is local wood actually better, or is that just a marketing story?

It’s more than a story. The Gold Coast estates didn’t just let native trees grow — they planted rare specimens from around the world, and some of those trees are still here. So far we’ve "rescued" black walnut, cherry, elm, black locust, and others, including katsura, a rare species originally native to Japan. You’re not going to stumble across katsura at a lumber yard. The Gold Coast grew some genuinely extraordinary trees, and when one comes down, we pay attention. That’s not marketing — that’s just what happens when you know what you’re looking at. Read more.

Do you only use local wood?

No. Local wood is our starting point and our preference but we also use other North American hardwoods as needed. Occasionally, when a project calls for it, we also use exotic hardwoods like mahogany.

Do you plant trees?

Yes- starting in 2026, we're committing to plant one fruit or nut tree for every dining table we sell. All of them going in the ground on Long Island's North Shore in November 2026. We're looking at black walnut, paw paw, and American persimmon. All deer-resistant, all native or naturalized, all genuinely useful. Fruit for people. Nuts for wildlife. Roots for the soil. We build from trees. It felt right to give some back.

Why are you called Sound Designs?

I studied woodworking near Puget Sound in Seattle before returning home to Long Island. When I started Sound Designs in Glen Cove, not far from Long Island Sound, the name was an easy choice. Read the origin story here.
