Solid wood and live edge, made to order
At Sound Designs New York, we build custom solid wood and live edge countertops for kitchens, bars, restaurants, and commercial spaces across Long Island and Greater New York. Much of our wood comes off downed trees on the North Shore. The rest is American hardwood from mills we know.
Kitchens
Rich chocolate tones of black walnut, the crisp minimalist look of white oak, the wild and wavy grain of elm. Each species brings something different to the table (or should we say counter).
We work with your dimensions, your existing cabinetry, and your aesthetic to find the right match.
Bars
We’ve done home bars, restaurant bars, and commercial installations across Long Island and New York City. Hard, stable species like white oak and black walnut are our go-to for bar tops.
Finish
Our preferred finish is Odie’s Oil. Natural, non-toxic, beautiful sheen, silky to the touch. Spray finish and lacquer are also available.
Our on-site finisher has served New York City and Long Island for years and can do any stain or color. Dark espresso. A custom color matched to your cabinetry. Whatever you have in mind.
The Process
It starts with a conversation. We come to your space, take measurements, and cut a cardboard template right there in your kitchen. You see samples and detailed sketches before we make a single cut.
