Live Edge Dining Tables

Live Edge Dining Tables

Walnut, oak, and maple dining tables, milled, joined, and finished in our Glen Cove, NY studio.

Live Edge Dining Tables, Long Island, New York

At Sound Designs we build live edge dining tables for homeowners, designers, and commercial clients across Long Island and Greater New York.

Much of our wood comes from downed and fallen trees right here on the Gold Coast, the North Shore of Long Island.

What we don’t source locally comes from American hardwood suppliers we trust.

Our preferred finish for live edge is Odie’s Oil, a natural, non-toxic finish that leaves a beautiful sheen and feel.

A Table You’ll Never Want to Get Rid Of

A dining table is where people gather. It should outlast the trends, the moves, and the kids growing up around it. Ours are built to be handed down.

Live edge has been popular in NYC and the Hamptons for years, and the look keeps evolving. Lately we’re pairing wild slabs with everything from blackened steel to soft white wishbone legs to fully custom wood bases. The wood stays wild. The rest gets more considered.

How Much Does a Live Edge Dining Table Cost?

Let’s just get into it. Here’s how it usually breaks down at Sound Designs:

•  Standard dining tables, seating 6 to 8: $5,000 to $8,000

•  Larger or statement pieces: $9,000 and up

•  Smaller live edge pieces like coffee tables, side tables, and desks: $1,500 to $3,500

What drives the number? The slab itself, meaning size, species, and how rare it is.

Whether it’s a single slab or bookmatched. The base design, metal or wood or custom fabrication. And the finish details, like epoxy fills or ebonizing.
