Bayville Table

2025

The phone rang while I was on my lunch break.

The caller had searched for furniture makers near me and found us. Could they come by the shop in fifteen minutes? Sure.

When they walked in, we had restaurant benches for Brooklyn on one table and a white oak wall unit on another. The whole place smelled like Odie's Oil and sawdust. We looked at samples and talked about finishes, and within a few minutes a walnut dining table started to take shape.

"Perfectly imperfect." That's what they wanted. A single slab of black walnut with a wavy, wild live edge.

They approved the slab and even helped us mark up the cuts, inlays and bow ties. It was definitely a collaborative project.

The slab was incredibly heavy. It's curved and wavy, and the wishbone legs complement it. There are bow ties on the top and the bottom to secure the slab, and it's finished with a natural oil.

The table sits in a home in Bayville with water views on at least two sides. It's calming to look out the windows and watch the reeds blowing and the seagulls flying.

This is what we love most about what we do: building something together that nobody else has.
