Sea Cliff Table

2026

Hello, can you make a live edge table with wishbone legs?

Yes!

Can the legs be painted white?

Why not?

Can the top be a single slab of white oak?

Yes, indeed. We can find the perfect slab.

This is paraphrased, of course, but it's not that far off. This is what custom furniture is all about.

Oddly enough, as we were delivering this piece to the client's home in Sea Cliff, a quaint Victorian village overlooking Hempstead Harbor, we happened to walk within inches of what may be the largest white oak tree we've ever seen.

Perhaps it was once a scrappy upstart in the suburban canopy one hundred years ago, but today it simply makes the other trees look tiny by comparison.

Which I suppose is fitting, because we searched high and low to find the perfect slab for this project. It's a single slab, by the way, not jointed (glued together), which means the tree that produced it was quite mature.

The top has some epoxy to fill minor checks and cracks, but these only seem to enhance the piece. It's finished with Rubio Monocoat at the customer's request.

The oiled look gives it a warm glow, especially with the lighting in the space and the white cabinets in the background.
