Upper East Side Dining Table

2026

The client came to us with a vision. They wanted a ten-foot white oak dining table, all from a single slab, no more than 41 inches wide, and cut into two five-foot sections to fit inside an apartment on the Upper East Side.

Could we do it? Of course, but first we needed to find the perfect slab.

We didn't have anything in our locally sourced inventory that fit the bill. So we scoured the internet until we found the perfect slab in Indiana.

We had it shipped all the way to Glen Cove. When it arrived at Pratt Oval on an unseasonably warm day in March, it was over 14 feet long and probably heavier than anything we have ever lifted. So we worked outside and cut it down to size with our trusty track saw.

Since the table was now in two sections, it needed steel supports to hold the two sections together. We had these fabricated here on Long Island. The steel frame is concealed with a white oak apron, and the table stands on custom chrome-plated legs.

The piece was finished with General Finishes Dead Flat, which keeps the white oak looking crisp and clean, with no yellowing.

We delivered it in August 2026.
